Front Desk/Office Assistant

POSITION IMPACT
This position will bring a positive outcome to the church because if someone comes into the office or calls the office, someone is always there to greet them or take their call. Some information can be forwarded to voicemail, etc. but sometimes people call or come in that need immediate help.

QUALIFICATIONS
Some of the key qualifications for this position include being able to answer the phone, take a message, and transfer calls. They should be able to do basic office tasks, such as filing, making copies, and shredding documents as needed. Background that would be helpful for this position include being comfortable talking to new people,  being discreet, feeling comfortable using a computer to send occasional emails and to update profiles in our database.

Some benefits to the volunteer in this position include building relationships with staff and other members of the church that come in or call the office.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
We are looking for a one year commitment.  This position is typically a 3-hour shift once a week (mornings from 9:00am-12:00pm; afternoons from 1:00-4:00pm)
Current morning shifts available are: Mondays (during tax season)
Current afternoon shifts available are: Tuesday (winter) Thursday and Friday

TRAINING
Most of the training for this position takes place during a typical shift so the volunteer can be hands-on with the equipment.

Care Minister

POSITION IMPACT
A Care Minister is a compassionate person that provides confidential support and encouragement to people during difficult times in their lives (relational, financial, emotional, spiritual, grief, hospitalization, long term care, terminal illness, death). A Care Minister is Christ’s ambassador extending His love to meet each person at their individual point of need.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desires to encourage others to experience the love and healing of Jesus for their lives.

MINISTRY COMMITMENT

Prayer Chain Ministry

POSITION IMPACT
 The Prayer Chain is a ministry where people send in urgent prayer requests to the church and the ministry team is begin to immediately pray for the person's needs.

No training required. The Care Ministry Coordinator will provide information about the process.

COMMENTS

The T!LC Prayer chain handles the  prayers that are requested by phone, email or through the T!LC website. These prayers are shared via email. 

Christmas Outreach Coordinator

POSITION IMPACT
The Christmas Outreach Coordinator is responsible to coordinate with families that have requested assistance with purchasing gifts and meals  for Christmas. The Coordinator also coordinates and communicates with Life Groups, individuals and or families that have volunteered to adopt these families.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
This is a volunteer position that works from mid-November through Christmas time. You can work at home via phone calls, text and emails as your schedule permits.

TRAINING
The Christmas Outreach Volunteer coordinator or co-coordinators will be guided through all the aspects of the outreach  by the Care Ministry Coordinator.

Sunday School Teacher

POSITION IMPACT
Sunday School Teachers will get the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children by teaching God’s word and building relationship with them.

  • On-going training opportunities will be provided and all teachers are strongly encouraged to attend
  • Regular worship attendance is an important aspect of on-going training

Assistant Sunday School Teacher

POSITION IMPACT
You will have the opportunity to provide wonderful support for Sunday school teachers and the Family & Children’s Ministry Director so they can stay on track with the lesson or craft.

Must enjoy working with children and be a good team player.

Children's Worship Team Volunteer

POSITION IMPACT
You have an opportunity to teach and model for children how to worship the Father through skits, songs, actions, video or other creative methods. This foundation will lead to giving them confidence to worship God freely in all they do.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be musically inclined

  • Willing/able to learn new songs to bring to the children that match their curriculum

Children's Activity Preparation Volunteer

You have an opportunity to serve children and your Explorers Teammates by preparing the already-planned crafts, games and other activities ahead of time.

Nursery Volunteer

A nursery volunteer ministers and cares for the youngest members of the Thanksgiving community. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Children's Ministry Welcome Team

POSITION IMPACT
Children’s ministry (Explorers) welcome team members have an opportunity to provide peace of mind to families who bring their children by being a friendly face to guide children to their assigned “cabin” and small group leader and answering any questions they may have.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be willing to work with children and families

  • Desire to give a positive first impression of children’s ministry at Thanksgiving

  • Friendly personality

  • Enjoy talking to people

  • At least 18 years old

You will be part of the Explorers Team, and have an opportunity to be a "daymaker" for a family while meeting many people.

  • One-year commitment (August - May); at least twice per month

Grounds Team

POSITION IMPACT
Members of the Grounds Team are important to providing safe, clean, and welcoming facilities and grounds for attendees and guests so that they can engage with God and with one another.

QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with power lawn mowers and trimmers.  

BENEFITS
The benefit of volunteering to be a part of the Grounds Team is the opportunity to be in community with others and to pray for and with each other.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
Weekly, as available on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays for 2-3 hours.  Work crews can be set up for mornings, afternoons or evenings based on availability and needs of volunteers.

Chair Ministry

POSITION IMPACT
This position is vital to preparing the Worship Center for the contemporary worship services each weekend and creating an environment for individuals to experience a meaningful worship experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
Physical ability to lift and move chairs.

Finance

Count Team

Count Team

POSITION IMPACT
Members of the count team process and record the weekly contributions and prepare the bank deposit of those offerings. Accurate recording of donations is necessary to provide meaningful contribution reports for our contributors and for the church leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Detail-oriented

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

  • Reliability in keeping scheduled turns, or making arrangements for a substitute counter

BENEFITS
Fellowship time with other members of the count team, and becoming more familiar with the work of the church through processing the various offerings.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT

  • Sunday afternoons, 1:00pm until about 2:30pm

  • Several turns during a quarterly schedule, scheduled around the volunteer’s availability

Hospitality Outreach Volunteer

POSITION IMPACT
Meet and greet people who attend events held at Thanksgiving.

QUALIFICATIONS
Have the gift of hospitality and enjoy serving at special events and celebrations is helpful.     

BENEFITS
This is a place to volunteer when your schedule permits. You will be contacted when opportunities arise and given the option to help if you are available. At times, these can be short notice (a couple of days)

TRAINING
The Hospitality Outreach Volunteer coordinator or co-coordinators will be guided through all aspects of this outreach by the Care Ministry Coordinator. Volunteers will receive a brief orientation prior to serving at events.

Life Groups

 

Worship Team Member

POSITION IMPACT
As a Worship Team Member (either vocalist or instrumentalist) you will use your musical gift to help the lead the congregation into worship of the Lord.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord

  • Passion for and skill in music, either vocally or instrumentally.

  • Love of worship and lifting up the name of the Lord

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
For weekends you are scheduled:
Individual practice on your own time at at your own discretion for what you need (music, sheet music and audio files are available in advance so you can come to rehearsal prepared) in addition to:
Thursday night rehearsal at 7:00pm
Saturday afternoon call time at 4:30pm
Sunday morning call time at 9:00am

Based on experience and ability, determined by the Worship Director.
 

First Impressions Team

POSITION IMPACT
First Impressions Team members are the face of Thanksgiving Church.  They ensure visitors feel welcome and that the church is a place where they can belong.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • White-hot passion for seeking out guests and making them feel welcome

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT

  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to start of service

  • Attend a 10-minute "check-in" meeting with Welcome Team Leads

  • Once established, serve approximately every 4-6 weeks (perhaps more frequently to begin)

  • Semi-annual team meeting lasting approximately 90 minutes.
